OMG March Madness, or How I Lost Five Dollars

I hope I win money on college basketball games so I can pay back the college I actually attended

After just the first few games, I can tell that I'm not going to win the office pool. But the competitiveness is fun. Maybe the Illini will be in the NCAA next year, so I can bet that they will win, even though it will be totally implausible.

Happy Valentine's Day

I could watch TV with you forever

[Remember: Valentine's Day is not the end all be all of anything. February 15th, however, is the end all be all of half price chocolate candy.]

Conesy Wonesy VS the CHIN

I promise to never treat you like NBC does its late-night hosts

No matter how much we talk about it, no one ever explains this to my satisfaction: who are these people who like Jay Leno?

I break my vows on Sarah Palin to bring you this E-Card

I wish Sarah Palin was as silent as Tiger Woods

My apologies, but this is spot on. I might stay mum on the topic of Sarah Palin and her crazy, but it doesn't mean that she doesn't still annoy me.

[And now, back to my scheduled silence on all things Sarah Palin]

Season 3 of Man Men Debuts today!

Even with his marital woes and new baby on the way, I predict Don Draper will get laid more in the season premiere of Mad Men than I did all summer

Now, if only I had AMC in order to watch it...

Supreme Court Confirmations ain't what they used to be...

I miss the days when Supreme Court confirmation hearings revolved around pubic hair

It isn't the most boring stuff on C-Span, but there are only so many times I can care about the "wise Latina" remark.

Thoughts on Money but not the Recession

One of the most disgusting things about growing up is how much less money is worth to you. I remember receiving a little less than $10 for Easter one year when I was about 9 and thinking that would last me at least a month.

Seven or eight years later I received double that amount of money. I thought, "Great, I have gas money! I'll go on my way back into town."

My paychecks from the bookstore are about $300 biweekly, and I think, "Is that all?"

Right now, all I want is the steady 9-5, two weeks vacation, five sick days, and all national holidays. But it would be something else, if I had that, I'm sure.

With that, today I work 8a.m.-5p.m. temping, then 5:30pm. to 11:30p.m. at the bookstore. At this point, I don't see how people can ever retire; it will never feel like enough.
