Slumdog Millionaire - Jai Ho

Best Picture? Maybe. Certainly better than Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Above are the credits + dance scene. Do not watch if you haven't seen the movie.

I love a good old fashioned Bollywood Dance scene...

New Year's Resolution

I have posted at least once a day ever since January 1st, and this is the first day that is possible I wouldn't be able to.

I'm also keeping my other New Year's Resolution to read all new books. That's going okay, too.

Change We Can Believe In!

Yesterday I complained about the White House Blog RSS feed, and today I get answers!

The White House:

If you subscribe to our RSS feed, you may have noticed a little hiccup recently having to do with multiple posts showing up in your feed reader. We've now corrected that problem and moving forward, it should be fine. If for some reason it continues for you please contact us.

I think I've gotten the blog post about the whistle stop tour at least five times now, so its good to see that Change Has Come To My Google Reader.

Now I'm glad that I've never worked at a buffet

Working at a buffet must be ridiculous. For one thing, you get to see people eating way too much food all the time. Secondly, you're always supposed to be watching costs. All that food ain't cheap. Is there a policy on how long someone can sit at the All-You-Can-Eat buffet? Who has to tell them to leave?

And how many times do you have to hear, "I thought this was 'All-you-can-eat!" in a day?

The Soapbox about Blockbuster

I recently rejoined Blockbuster Online - I used to push it as one of their lowly hacks and can see why its a good deal.

Until now:

Hi Celia,

As of March 2, 2009, there will be no more due dates for your free in-store movie exchanges!

# In other words, as long as you are an active BLOCKBUSTER Total Access subscriber, you can keep your free in-store exchanges as long as you like from participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores.
# In order to eliminate due dates, the free in-store exchange will now count towards the number of DVDs you may have out at a time under your BLOCKBUSTER Total Access plan. Once you've returned your in-store exchange, we'll then ship you the next available movie in your queue.
# Your free in-store exchanges will now show up on your Queue page and in your Rental History, making it easy to keep track of the movies you've rented.

As always, you can continue to return your online rentals through the mail or drop them off at the counter of a participating BLOCKBUSTER store to have your next online DVD shipped.

BLOCKBUSTER Total Access is the ONLY service that offers online DVD rentals plus the convenience of free in-store exchanges.

Yeah, that blows, Blockbuster.

The question remains: do I downgrade my plan to by mail only, or do I go with Netflix? And why can't I just have my old plan? Seriously!

This isn't change we can believe in!

I'm subscribed to the White House blog through Google Reader. Every 3 or 4 days, the White House blog decides to send every single post it has made since Barack Obama has become president.

This is tiresome. It isn't change I can believe in!

The Oscars Need To Shake It Up With A New Genocide

If I'm not mistaken, even foreign flick Nowhere In Africa in 2002 was about escaping Germany to live in Africa as non-practicing Jews. It won Best Foreign Film.

[Andrew Sullivan]

Damned if you do....

As much as it be lovely for this person to have their medical bills paid for being a Good Samaritan, corporations always tell you to merely call the police and allow whatever illegal activity to continue, as to not put your life in danger...or their insurance policies in danger.

Oscar Opening - Oh Snaps Hugh Jackman!

I love watching the Oscars. I don't need to see The Pianist beforehand to be affected by Adrien Brody's acceptance. I am the worst about Oscar prejudices and politics; I feel in my heart that Kate Winslet deserved to win

And I admit: I love musical numbers.

Man Shoots TV over Digital Conversion Debacle

So this is awesome. Man shoots television after his cable had gone out and he couldn't get the DTV box to work.

Maybe it would have been easier to get it to work if he hadn't been drinking...

Barack Obama Has To Do Everything
