Frak it Friday: I wish I was at Ebertfest

It pains me that schmucks like this Daily Illini reporter who know next to nothing of Roger Ebert and his awesomeness are there and I am not.

And can we all take this moment to remember what a bad student newspaper the Daily Illini is?

Jennifer's Body - Why's Everybody Gotta Hate?

For some reason, people are really, really down on Jennifer's Body. And I know that I'm about six to eight months late on this, but it was on very long wait on Netlix and I wasn't about to see it in the theater.

But people are really down on it, especially the best parts.

It was an enjoyable horror movie. Most horror movies suck. But this one is at least funny! And Megan Fox wasn't terrible terrible.

My theory: most of the people who love Juno are not going to watch a silly horror movie, because it doesn't look quirky enough.This means that only the Diablo Cody haters were paying attention and decided to flood the internet with bad reviews. Plus all the Megan Fox haters.

As the great Roger Ebert said, "...as a movie about a flesh-eating cheerleader, it's better than it has to be." I think that people should try to remember that.

I didn't know that this interview existed until I was looking for the Rod Blagojevich clip from the Daily Show. He's such a nice guy to the people he reviews badly, completely separating them from their (terrible) work. He's my faves

I used to watch movies and then immediately read the Ebert review. I don't watch as many movies, but I still trust his opinion more than others. For one thing, he's funny, and a second, he takes movie reviewing pretty seriously. There are some reviews that are so lovely that I've read them over and over and over again.

Now he doesn't just have his own movie review website but a blog! Where he responds to people who comment! What a great guy!

I've only met him twice (once I sold him a payday at the Overlooked Film Fest in 2005, and then a few days later had a conversation with him about Bollywood in a group) but he's still one of my fave people. I just wish he would write in his blog more!
